Tustan and Drohobych are both amazing places and this tour is also one of the favorites of our guides. A beautiful rock formation with great views, good food and lots of interesting stories and that right in a beautiful river – combined with Unesco World Heritage sites in Drohobych and a great stroll through the historic city – it’s simply great.
Being an inselberg, a rock formation sticking out of the landscape, once Tustan was the sight of a majestic fortress that controlled the local trade routes. In the local museum the archaeologists have documented how the fortress used to look like and how life there must have been. And the best part about the rocks: You can climb to the very top in most weathers. The view is fantastic too and gives you a great feeling about how the people must have felt in that rock fortress in Tustan. As a reward, we will eat some freshly grilled meat together. A shashlik here is a fresh and great food experience (vegetarians don’t worry, we got you covered too).
While most towns in Ukraine barely have any old Ukrainian wooden church, Drohobych even has two. St. George Wooden Church in Drohobych is part of the Unesco World Heritage of Wooden Churches in Ukraine and Poland. It’s neighbouring Church of the Holy Cross is just as old and equally pretty. From there we can walk right over to the place that made Drohobych famous once. One of the most unique places is it’s old salt mine. Salt was being produced in Drohobych even before Lviv was even founded. Nowadays you can take a dive into how this production used to look like. Believe us if we say you will be amazed! After these amazing impressions, we will walk through the historic old town of Drohobych and try some local delicacies. We can tell you already: it will be salty!

We will take you into St. George Church and tell you about the secret meanings of it's paintings and about why there are two churches inside of one even. From there it's a short walk over to the Holy Cross Church which we will have a look at too. Due to renovations it's currently closed though. By foot we will then explore the beautiful Market Square of Drohobych and enjoy some local delicacies.
