In no other place in Lviv Oblast you can see so many old buildings from all around Western Ukraine as in the Lviv Folk Architecture Museum which is also known as Shevchenkivskyi Hai. The museum is dedicated to showing rural life in all its forms. There are farm houses and churches from the Western regions of Ukraine.
See beautiful wooden churches on the Lviv Folk Architecture Museum Tour
One of the most beautiful wooden churches in Ukraine has been brought here and was re-erected. The wooden church of Kryvka in Turka County is one of the most visible landmarks int the Lviv Folk Architecture Museum, even though it is not part of the Unesco World Heritage of Wooden Churches in Ukraine and Poland. This beautiful Lviv village museum shows you all different aspects of folk architecture in Western Ukraine.
Live show and exhibitions – Great for kids!
Part of the exhibition at Shevchenkivskyi Hai is also to show you how people used to live. Real people work in the farm houses and show you how different crafts were done in previous centuries. For example you can discover an old oil mill, where people still press grain and seeds for oil. Taste rape oil, pumpkin oil or other directly from the press. In other manors they display weaving and you can see how carpets or traditional clothes are made. And of course in such a museum there must be someone painting Pysanky – the Ukrainian Easter eggs. If you are interested in taking part in any of those activities, please let us know and we can arrange it for you.
